Faces: Alsendoe Owens & James Tischler

"Faces: Alsendoe Owens and James Tischler" is a two-person survey exhibition featuring a new series of artworks by each artist. These two artists are united by bold, layered approaches to portraiture defined by expressive mark-making and vivid color. Owens and Tischler expand the language of portraiture by reimagining the face as a site of transformation, where faces emerge through accumulations of gesture, repetition, and form. Their paintings begin with a reference, ranging from art history, photography, and anime. In addition to both artists’ works on canvas, this exhibit features smaller works on paper by each artist.

Dedication of Time

"Dedication of Time" is the PASC program's fifth annual exhibition at the Art Gallery at Westland City Hall. Despite life’s obstacles, an artist’s dedication to their daily practice activates and expands each artist’s work by creating space for experimentation and growth, outside the gaze of an external audience. In the studio, creativity grows through a consistent act of making. It cannot be forced; creative growth unfolds within its own time in varied and often unexpected ways. This exhibit presents a collection of artwork from artists who have worked out of the PASC Westland art studio.
