Stanley Brown

Stanley Brown

John Peterson, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, 2024, mixed media on paper, 30.5 x 22.5 in

Stanley is a Detroit-based artist working out of the PASC Southgate Studio. Stanley’s subject matter ranges from monsters to animals, to faces, to cities. Stanley makes his mixed media drawings through an intensive process of heavily layering on patterns of media, starting with graphite, followed by colored pencil, then ballpoint pen, with a final layer of bold line-work using an acrylic marker and sometimes paint. This process gives his drawings an almost three-dimensional appearance, with each layer existing as a separate plane.

He has exhibited at the Detroit Artist Market, Detroit, MI (2025); PASC Detroit Gallery, Detroit, MI (2024/25); BasBlue, Detroit, MI (2024); MOCAD, Detroit, MI (2023); Ford Art Gallery WCCC, Bellville, MI (2023); Art Space 200, University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, MI (2023); PASC At/And Chap Lofts, Detroit, MI (2023); Detroit Repertory theatre, Detroit, MI (2022); Swords Into Plowshares Gallery, Detroit (2022); The PASC Detroit Pop Up Gallery, Detroit, MI (2022); The Scarab Club, Detroit, MI (2021); the PASC Southgate Gallery, Southgate, MI (2021/24); and in two online exhibitions on the PASC website in 2021. His work has been featured at art fairs such as NADA Miami, FL (2024), hosted by White Columns; and the Outsider Art Fair, New York City, NY (2025), through Shelter Gallery.

During the run of the exhibition artworks are available for viewing and purchase through The Gallery at Cherry Hill.
