Angela is a Detroit-based artist who works at the PASC Detroit Studio. Angela’s artwork is composed of layered sentences, and sometimes images, that recount her memories and observations of the world, from favorite singers singing, to church windows, to favorite foods, and holidays. Angela lays out her recollections through repeatedly writing or drawing text and images to create vibrant, richly layered poetic abstractions, mainly using pen, sometimes accompanied by marker or watercolor. These works of visual poetry often have a center of dense energy close to the bottom of the page, where most of her writing is contained and layered, and from here her words or characters echo.
Angela has exhibited at PASC Detroit Gallery, Detroit, MI (2025); BasBlue, Detroit, MI (2024); and MOCAD, Detroit, MI (2023). Her artwork has been featured in art fairs such as Outsider Art Fair, NYC, New York (2025).
