Nathaniel McNeal Jr.

Nathaniel McNeal Jr.

Nathaniel is a Detroit-based artist who works out of the PASC Detroit studio. He is a highly detailed draftsman who uses mostly ball point pen to create his artworks, often in only black and white. Most of his artwork features subjects with faces: animals, people, and fictional characters. Each face is rendered in great detail, with a personality and charm that evokes a story behind their eyes for the viewer. Nathaniel also draws less animate objects, such as architecture, abstract mountain-like shapes, and maps, including an equal amount of personality and detail.

His artwork has been presented with the University of Michigan, Institute for the Humanities, Ann Arbor, MI (2025); the PASC Detroit Gallery, Detroit, MI (2024); PASC at BasBlue, Detroit, MI (2024); the Ford Art Gallery WCCC, Detroit, MI (2023); Padzieski Gallery, Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, Dearborn, MI (2023); The Art Gallery at City Hall, Westland, MI (2022/2023/2024). His artwork has been exhibited at art fairs such as Creativity Explored x Open Invitational, San Francisco, CA (2026).
