Ray Smith

John Peterson, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, 2024, mixed media on paper, 30.5 x 22.5 in

Ray is a Detroit-based artist working out of the PASC Detroit Studio. A dedicated realist, Ray began his artistic journey focused exclusively on a single subject—school buses—during his first year. Since then, his practice has expanded to include a wide range of subjects, from desserts and flowers to architectural forms. He renders each piece with confident linework and vibrant multimedia techniques, creating radiant images adorned with fantastical rainbow ornamentation.

Ray has shown at PASC Detroit Gallery, Detroit, MI (2024/25); Ford Art Gallery WCCC, Bellville, MI (2023); Circle Contemporary, Arts of Life, Chicago, IL (2023); Padzieski Gallery, Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, Dearborn, MI (2023); the annual exhibit in the Gallery at Westland City Hall, Westland, MI (2022/23/24/25); Reyes|Finn Gallery, Detroit, MI (2023); PASC At/And Chap Lofts, Detroit, MI (2023); PASC Detroit Pop-Up Gallery, Detroit, MI (2022); PASC Southgate Gallery, Southgate, MI (2021) and the Scarab Club, Detroit, MI (2021).  His artwork is in the collection of Detroit's Henry Ford Hospital Health Clinics.

During the run of the exhibition artworks are available for viewing and purchase through The Gallery at Cherry Hill.
