Lewis Foster

Lewis Foster

Lewis is a Detroit-based artist working out of the PASC Detroit studio. He creates realist drawings featuring neat rows of serial images of objects and text, ranging from modernist furniture and vehicles to advertisements and archaeological artifacts. Lewis often works from art and design books, magazines, and guidebooks, building a catalog of objects through precise and tightly detailed renderings. Recently, he has expanded his practice to include figurative characters rendered in pen and watercolor. Before working in watercolor, his drawings were created exclusively with pencil and colored pencil.

Lewis has exhibited with the Gallery at Cherry Hill, Canton, MI (2026); University of Michigan, Institute for the Humanities, Ann Arbor, MI (2025); PASC Detroit Gallery, Detroit, MI (2024/25); Art Enables, Washington, DC (2024); PASC at BasBlue, Detroit, MI (2024); MOCAD, Detroit, MI (2023); SAGE Studio, Austin, TX (2023); PASC Detroit Pop-Up Gallery, Detroit, MI (2022); Detroit Repertory Theatre, Detroit, MI (2022); Art Gallery at Westland City Hall (2022); Swords Into Plowshares Gallery, Detroit (2022); The Scarab Club, Detroit (2021); and online exhibitions with PASC (2021). His artwork has been featured at art fairs such as Open Invitational, Miami, FL (2024), and NADA presented by White Columns Gallery, Miami, FL (2024). As of 2024, his work has been acquired by the Cranbrook Art Museum for its permanent collection.
